In August, 1974 a restaurant entrepreneur in Rochester, New York founded Sal's Birdland Restaurants. Sal Nalbone, President and founder of Sal's Birdland Restaurants, utilizing his many years of restaurant experience decided it was time to fulfill his lifelong dream of opening his own restaurant with a unique concept.
After formulating the recipe for his secret sauce, Sal's Sassy Sauce, he served up some of the best chicken and rib dinners in New York State. Since then, Sal's Birdland Restaurants has grown from Rochester to Syracuse, New York and includes several restaurant licensees that feature Sal's Birdland-style chicken wings and seasoned potato wedges. Syracuse University is among several licensees in upstate New York.
