Taxi driver goes 'the extra mile'

SYRACUSE -- The Syracuse Convention and Visitors Bureau is showing its appreciation for hard working taxi cab drivers in the area.
Friday, they held the 2nd Annual Taxi Car Wash in the Greater Syracuse Chamber of Commerce parking lot.
One driver was recognized for his exceptional hospitality and for taking a customer on a tour of Syracuse on his own dime. George Luttman also talked about his experience driving around one of the Monkees, Mickey Dolenz, when he was in town.
As part of the Car Wash, taxi cab drivers got a package of new visitor guides to distribute to passengers.
The Syracuse Convention and Visitors Bureau hopes to give this award out every year to a driver who goes above and beyond. The way they see it, when people come to visit Syracuse, a taxi might be their first impression on the city.
