In 2013, a few construction projects will begin at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo. These projects are being done to make the facility more enjoyable for visitors as well as make the grounds at the zoo more sustainable. Changes include:
- Rennovating the front entry way at the zoo, fixiing the sidewalk trip hazards and turn the wetland section into a courtyard.
- Parking lots will be redesigned to tackle the flooding issues and collect rain water as part of Onondaga County's Save the Rain program.
- Installing a new system that will connect the ponds and wetlands inside the zoo which will save millions of gallons of water
Construction will start in the spring of 2013 and is expected to be completed by the end of the current school year.
