Syracuse mall eyes Canadian cross-border shopping

A new law in Canada will allow Canadians returning home from a day in the US can spend $200 at the duty-free shop, which is four times the current limit of $50. Shoppers who spend 48-hours in th US can bring $800 worth of goods across the border.
It is said that Canadians spend $60 million annually at Carousel Center, soon to be Destiny USA after the 850,000 square foot expansion opens. The new shopping center will include 265 different shops, an IMAX theatre, go-kart race track, bowling alley and a night club.
Opening is expected to take place in August.
