Step back to 1657 and the re-created french mission of Sainte Marie. Learn the story of the Jesuits who traveled from Quebec City to the shores of Onondaga Lake by invitation from the Iroquois Nation.
Operated by the Friends of Historic Onondaga Lake, this facility features a visitors center with rotating exhibits space, a gift shop and space dedicated to the presentation of the Jesuit experience and their interaction with the Natives of the area.
The Mission Site is a stockaded living history exhibit which features costumed intreprators reinacting the daily chores of the men who lived here 350+ years ago. Their signature event - Christmas Around the World - occurs from Thanksgiving to Christmas, weekends only. See events calendar for more details.
