Just west of the city, the Sims Store Museum is a replica of an 1860's canal-side store. A beautifully wooded 400-acre park includes a restored section of the canal, nine miles of trails and two picnic areas. Boat rides operate from May through October.
The park is also home to the Steam Engine project, showcasing a 450-horsepower engine that generated electricity for the L.C. Smith Typewriter Co. Boat tours every Sunday from May to October as well as dinner cruises on Wednesday evenings mid-June to late August (reservations required for dinner - 488-8624).
